VCC - Ground Floor

During my time with DA Architects + Planners, we were recommended to VCC as the go to team for Higher Ed Classrooms; in particular for Computer Information and Technology Classrooms and Hub Space.

VCC had an up and coming computer technology program that required a high tech and flexible learning space. The renovation area was located in the lower level of the downtown campus, with no exterior windows and the space was plagued with noisy mechanical equipment.

The mission was to provide a flexible high-tech learning environment that overcame the designated areas challenges and was desirable, lively and comfortable.

The result was a new concept space, comprised of extensive glass writing surfaces, accessible power and data throughout, high NRC ceilings and acoustical separations as well as a complete LED lighting upgrade.  The design challenged traditional classroom design with its functional glazed teaching wall, that provides light transfer and connection between the adjacent brightly lit common areas and offers an expansive opaque glass writing surface.
